Any non-common tools I should get before replacing the head gasket?

I would suggest a bolt extractor socket set. Just In case. See pic

Highly recommended to replace it while you've got the engine torn apart for head gaskets.

Make sure the 8mm 12pt is a 1/4” drive, a 3/8” won’t fit in to the recess.

lol. Replaced that and the timing chain/gears a few months ago anyway 😂

A piece of pipe to extend the breaker bar length to break the old head bolts loose.

Also, be aware if new stretch head bolts are used, you will finish up by making quarter turn tightening. You may want a way to mark those turns accurately.

Ah, good call. Paint markers work great for this. I like the Sharpie branded oil base paint markers.

highly recommend you watch the atlantic british video of a head gasket job, shows you the procedures and all the tools they use to make this easier

The AB videos (teardown and rebuild) were my spirit guides when I did my heads earlier this year. Watch them before you start and refer them often. The suggestion of getting food delivery trays was fantastic as I labeled each one so I did not have to play around finding the right bolts etc.

I just used a standard, black Sharpie, I recall.
