just to finally be able to contribute after my absence... dont feel so bad dude.. i live in louisiana and for a while if it dropped below 60 F i would fight and fight my truck to start... but for different reasons... my starter would miss a lot... but do one thing at a time and you can work your way to a finely tuned machine...
That's what I'm looking forward to. Won't be long before I'm back on track. I guess learning the hard way is better than never learning at all.

Another thing that you should check are the two hoses that go from the valve covers to the plenum and ram housing. They can deteriorate and crack affecting the vacuum. I didn't see that they were on any of the service check lists.

not sure if someone already got this, but in Mike's 60k list, it calls for Orange Coolant.. since this is a D1, don't use DexCool.....

Also, as far as changing the fuel pump - this is one of the easiest things to do on a Disco... don't pay someone to do this.

You will beable to see the intake plenum in this pic.

To clean the throttle body is easy.
Run the drivers side front tire uponto a 2x4 or a curb and remove the intake hose, it is the big round hose going from the air filter box to the intake plenum.
Remove it from the t-body.
Take your can of carb cleaner and spray all around the t-body, spray inside of it too, open the butterfly valve and spray inside, go liberal with the cleaner.
After it looks good and clean put the intake tube back on and start the truck and drive it around for a few miles to suck in all the carb cleaner.
It is a good idea to do this while the SeaFoam is working.

Thanks Spike. Now that I know the plenum has been staring me in the face, I can go out and try to find the hose running from the plenum to the passenger side valve cover. By any chance, is that hose visible in the picture you posted about the plenum?

Yes you can see it in the pic, look at the passenger side of the plenum and you will see a hose coming out of it, then it goes to the valve cover next to one of the heater hoses.
