That looks like a pretty decent deal, although the hawse fairlead is not ideal with a cable. I bought a Smittybilt and have been very pleased with it. It's a Chinese built unit also, but it has a higher horsepower motor, came with a roller fairlead and cost less.

Funny to hear that you getting stuck driving off road for no reason convinced your wife that you needed a winch. And then you'll need a way to mount it and maybe some more agressive tires since you can now go into nastier terrain because you have a winch and then maybe some sliders and diff guards and then... It's funny how we justify spending money to do stuff that that we have no reason to be doing.

I already had a roller fairlead, but prefer the hawse on the ARB bar. It doesn't stick out and it's less prone to damage. I agree it's not ideal, but it's been working well so far.

Just drop the extra $200 and get a synthetic line so you don't need a roller fairlead.

Yeah synthetic is great until it gets wet and freezes in the temps we have in VT, then it's like cement.

Yep, they'll ice up - Metal cable will do the same, when wet, can turn into a big block of ice and metal. Ironically, it happened on my old LP8500 I used to have!
