I bought a Turner Short Block with the H180 Cam and I would recommend any product they have. The engine is a big improvement from stock, and the service is excellent, even with them in England.

 

Does anyone have any idea of the life expectancy of standard Allmake rings vs the Turner rings?

I have decided that any price savings over King/Israel bearings (probably $10-20 for both mains and connecting rods) is not worth the risk.

 

Can't go wrong with King bearings but, you can go wrong with other makes so worth the extra $.

About rings...find out who makes the rings turner is selling/using. Then see if you can find out who makes the allmakes rings you are looking at. That will give you a place to start on your research and hunt.
Thing about allmakes is they buy parts from different companies and they sell good parts, not so good parts, and crap parts.... depends on what the part is and who they are getting the part from this week.
If you can get whoever is selling the allmakes stickered rings to give you the maker, then contact turner and if theirs are the same maker... and the allmakes are cheaper then you've saved $ without settling for less quality.
You have to dig deep when buying parts these days, a big name (on the box) from an old company don't mean much anymore.

 

Did you get any info on the maker from Turner Engineering on their rings?

 

last i check Turner was having a special blowing out complete top hatted 4.0 for less than $3900.00.
Even with shipping i have to think it would be considerably less than anyone in the states right now,
and dough you could do it yourself for less

 

Hello I see that this thread is old today I have the same concern as you ... I need to repair my motor and I am looking and I see price differences but I do not know the quality that was? which one did you decide to work with?
