D2G-Thats where I was going to send him, thanks for stealing my thunder!
Get a good recovery strap, a fox hole shovel from the Army surplus and go off roading with a friend.
Learn what the truck can do, take it slow and start small. Logging roads and two tracks you can do alone.
A machet' is a good tool to carry too, you can cut tree branches to increase your traction if you get stuck.
Carry boots, warm clothes and a blanket and gloves.
Start small and take it slow. Watch lots of off road vids on youtube, Camel Trophy Vids are the best ones to learn from since those guys know what they are doing and are not drinking beer and showing off for their friends.
