Mine sounds like a vacuum cleaner or a shop vac in the morning.
And your point is?

The electric air pump sounds like a hair dryer when it is about to go. Also has some sort of filter under there.

I have this noise as well. I took apart the air pump to check the filter and it looked brandnew, as did the pump. Not sure if it was replaced before. It seems to be cycling as normal on cold startup. Anyone had one of these fail. As Buzz points out was hairdryer noise a symptom?

I think it is supposed to be on for 90 seconds at startup. The noise should not be screeching - like mine has started doing, and very loud. Shuts off and then after warmup and everything seems to run ok.
Because of the noise, I am checking the fan first then looking for leaks in the hoses and little tubes. And of course - pull off the hose to the Secondary Air Valve to see if there is damp soot in there.

You can open the fan to see if there is or has been some water/moisture in there. Not good.
