Default Anyone using Torque for OBD II to check temp

After installing my head gaskets I headed down to LA for a road test. I have the Torque ap for my phone with a OBD II blue tooth reader. The temp gauge reads normal all day long. Today sitting in traffic the gauge still reads in the middle but the the phone ap got up to 225 is this a normal tempature?

I'm using Torque.

225 is kind of high, but if sitting in traffic and you aren't running a 180 thermostat, and a hot day, I could see that.

I usually sit around 208 in traffic.

Don't use the dash gauge as a baseline. It reads cold, normal, and your screwed!

Normal. Buy a 180 degree thermostat.

I second the opinion.... 225-deg is high, especially when the aircon electric fan should kick in at 212-deg to bring the temps down.

I advise also checking the electric fan to see if it is working. If the fan is working, it will point more likely to a clogged radiator as the culprit. This will what happened to me last summer as I was going through the process of deduction to figure out the same issue.

I used torque for quite some time before adding an actual aftermarket temp sensor. It's very reliable, I just got tired of it draining my phone battery. 225 is way high, I've only ever had my aux fan turn on once and it came right back down to 203, which it has never passed other than that one instance.

Def do the 180 stat and NEVER trust the factory gauge.

This is what I use:

i use the toque app a lot. It generally stays in the 190s on my stock setup. Hoever every now and then the app will show a spike up to 230 for like1 second, so I have to assume that's an error. It goes up then right back to baseline in under 3 seconds or so, so that can't be correct

I sit at 208 in high heat in traffic with the AC on. Then moving I drop to 190 to 194.

I use Torque and it seems to work very well.
