Appreciate any insight on a 2003 Disco...
I've searched all over this forum and have been encouraged by all of the information I've found! So, thanks in advance!
Currently, I don't own a Disco but saw one yesterday and am thinking about making the plunge.
Here are the facts about the vehicle, 2003 S, 128,000 miles, interior and exterior are in great condition, new water pump, tires are in great condition and the asking price is $2,500. Only one problem, it has a warped head which I know may get expensive.
I've done research on this site and it seems as if it may just need to be shaved down by a machinist. How much work is it to remove the heads and could I do it? Are there any other problems that could be underlying besides the warping of the heads?
I live in New Orleans and if anyone on here lives in the area and could help me take a look at it or point me in the right direction I would be extremely appreciative.

walk away. if warped heads it has been overheated, who knows the actual extent of the damage. Not to mention at best you are looking at 1500-2000 to get the head gaskets and warped heads taken care of. SO you are at 4500.00 before you go and take care of another 1000 plus in other needed care items. Unless you can do all of the work yourself my opinion is to walk and keep looking. It took me 3 years to find mine.
Warped head can also mean overheating enough to cause a sleeve(s) to start moving in the cylinders, no good fix for that other than major engine rebuild or replace. Makes a tick when hot.
As the previous poster stated, I should just walk away. I knew it was too good to be true.
