Default Advice/Insight on Disco's 2002-2004..Is one year less troublesome?

I am currently interested in purchasing a used Land Rover Discovery, preferably 2002-2004. I am very new to the Land Rover, but have always loved the looks, an dthe apparent functionality. having said that, they defintely seem to be a "love it or hate it" car. No in between. Reliability and repair costs seem to be at the forefront. Is there a certain year that seemingly has less problems than others? I have heard/read that there were some major issues w the 2003 models? Im just looking to get as much info as possibly so to make a best decision, and I dont think that info will come from the dealership. Also I am 6'2. Is that too tall to enjoy one of these comfortably? I will be test driving one soon so I guess I can answer that question on my own. But any other help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx in advance.

What do you plan to use it for, plan on much off roading?
If so, stay away from the 02's and 03's. You will want one with a locking t/case for all the extra traction, that being a 99, 00,01 or 04.
If not wheeling much anything but the 03 and watch the prices.
If you find anything, get back to us with the info, especially the price.

thanks Mike for the reply. I don't plan on doing any serious offroading. Quite simply, Im a sucker for the look, always have been, and am a guy who wants an SUV/Truck. Its the only truck that has ever caught my eye. I do live in the Northeast so snowy winters are a factor, but no Safari's planned. Just to and from work, occasional weekend excursion. It sounds like the 03 is something to stay away from, regardless of mileage, or plans for useage? Is an 04 then ideal? or do the 02's offer similar features but w / a substantially lower price tag? And yes I am doing research on my own but I have a feeling a forum like this is where to get the good/ and the bad. Id like to get something w/ 60k miles, for under 10k?. Seem fair? Im just basing that figure off of what seems to be listed here in the classifieds. Are disco's a vehicle that you defintely want to buy from a dealer or can private sellers be an option as well?Again any advice is greatly appreciated.
