the only biggest disadvantage we've come up with is that I would get stuck if TC failed on the way out! that's not much of a disadvantage!

Well at least with the 04, you have the CDL which is far better then the ETC anyway.
For those with no CDL, you can always buy a 3 Amigo scanner and keep it in the truck to at least keep you up and running to get home.

I have been stuck in snow (bottomed out after tires dug in) with the 3 amigos and it stinks. A 2002 DII is worthless without TC. Now I have an ABS scanner so hopefully it will not happen again unless I have another mechanical issue. One day I will replace my CD with a lockable one.
