Real bad city driving with sitting for periods of 2-5 minutes until finally getting the light and departing, (while sitting) it spiked at 207.8 and right when I took off it went to 204.5, 201.2 and then stayed between ~196-199.## and only hit the 194.00-195.8 once I got back onto the highway. Once I got off and hit one short light, then another, and finally entered my apartment and parked, it hit 201.2 and stayed there as I turned it off because I did not want it to go any higher. What do you all think on this temps? Should I perform a good radiator flush? Or consider another t-stat? I'm in Texas and it only gets hot here. Really hot. During all of this the temperature outside was ~96-99 with traffic every where. I never floored it, just gave it proper throttle to get up to legal speed limit.
Your temperature is fine.. Please don't catch the paranoia bug that goes around here.. I had it once. Replaced too much stuff for nothing

I've programmed myself to worry at 220f. Your temps sound similar to mine and it doesn't overheat. I think the fan turns on at 212 on mine so 220 is what I am looking for to catch runaway temps early on.

Duly noted. Thank you. And considering the heat here and Texas' sun, I'd like to have it running cooler.

A question to all, what is the difference in a motor running cool(180's) to a motor running warm/hot(190-200's)??

As I just inherited the truck, I'm not sure what is in it. But apparently it is doing a decent job. When I replace the bleed screw, I might just do a hardcore flush and then fill it up with PEAK 50/50. What coolant is recommended? I've heard PEAK 50/50 is good.

I'll try not too but it is a Land Rover and I just wanna make sure she's running tip top and at a comfortable temperature. haha. But I will set my ultragauge to beep at 212F or maybe 210.

Good to have a temperature to look out for. I doubt I will ever hit 220F. That seems like an overheat.

I would be completely comfortable up to 215... Do not panic 200-205-215 is normal and will happen.. If you see 230 then cry and tear the truck apart/drive it off a cliff.. I don't even panic if it momentarily reaches 220.

quick AC question

The other day on my way to Marble Falls and back from, a white vapor substance started blowing out of my AC vents. The car was not running anywhere near hot, and it did not smell odd or anything like that. It was just odd to see. The AC was on 62F both sides. I turned it off and on and it just continued then eventually stopped. Any idea what it could be? It was not a smoke of any kind, it seemed like compressed air or vapor.

Condensation. Was it on auto? Or did you override it and have the re-circ turned off?

Could be a pin hole in your heater core misting out of your vents. That's what it sounds like. Turn your heat on and let us know what happens.

I'll try that on my next drive. Then let you know what happens.
