Default Autozone Viscous Fan Clutch

Has anyone been able to get the fan clutch for the 2002 DII viscous fan clutch onto the 2003 fan? I think the Hayden requires you to drill the holes a little larger, and that is fine with me.

FWIW, I had no problems with the AZ clutch on my 2001 fan. I'd bet they're the same fan.

At some point they switched to a one piece fan/clutch. I thought it was 03. My 04 had a one piece. Before I replaced it with an 02 fan.

Was 03.

If original your 03/04 fans can't be installed on clutch as they are a one piece fan/clutch assemble. Many folks purchase a prior year new/used fan to install on the aftermarket clutch due to high cost of assy.

The fan has bolts on the back of it, so I am guessing it is not the one piece. I will just have to try it.

If your 03 has bolts holding the fan clutch on it's a 99-02 fan blade. 99-02 fan blade has a ring around it. The 03/04 blade doesn't have the ring around it and the blade ends are exposed/open.

Auto Zone doesn't require any modifications.

Thanks, I must have an '02. Maybe the one thing the last owner did right!

The issues I had were not due to the fan, so I am going to return it. The fan does do a good job of cooling, but you will feel it on the engine. Although, I was going from electric fans so it was more pronounced. If I were in a hot climate or were going to cross a desert I may go this route.
