Default Axle Problems

From all of the horror stories that you read on here about axle and transmission problems, is there anyway to prevent these from happening? Preventive maintenance?

Thanks,

Default RE: Axle Problems

There are no axle problems on Rovers. There is a front drive shaft issue with D2's needing to replace 2 front u-joints that did not come with grease fittings, and all that is required is to have them replaced with new joints with grease fittings.

Default RE: Axle Problems

Thanks for the response Mike,
I have replaced u-joints in a 1979 Blazer, should I expect the same technique with replacing the ones in the Discovery or should I have an expect do this for me? Besides the dealer, Do you have a suggestion on where I can buy these in Denver?

Thanks,
