Default Bad head gasket replacement?

So, I've put the engine all back together and looks great, started it and after listening to some head gasket blown videos on YouTube, sounds like one side is blowing.

I followed all instructions from RAVE to put it back together and it still does this....I'm certain I torqued the head bolts correctly but it sounds like a loud phut phut phut and has lost all power. I could barely get it back up my steep driveway.

Am I going to have to take it apart again? I would get codes but the OBD doesn't connect to the ECu - that's another thing I need to fix

Help. Please.

Are you positive it is not an exhaust leak at the manifolds? Do you have secondary air injection make sure the flexible pipes are not cracked or leaking at the head

Or you are losing all of your compression on that one side because the head is not completely sealed to the block and gasket. I'm sure that you have another thread where you noted that these original heads have been machined "true" or you replaced them with a different set of rebuilt heads. If this is the case, then the gasket was put on backwards or the head didn't get torqued all of the way down. I mean, what else could it be? You wouldn't completely lose all engine power from an exhaust leak.

well how embarrassing is this.....well quite.

Had my mate come over and see if he could put some fresh eyes on it, and he went immediately to the coil and HT leads, and we (he) diagnosed that the HT lead to cylinder 3 and 5 were the wrong way round. Switched then, and it runs like it should. Smooth. Quiet (for a land rover V8) and the power has come back.

I have a smirk on my face. Partly because its fixed, but partly because i'm a bit of a idiot to get them the wrong way round.

Oil pressure light is still on though.

I've checked the pump (ok), seals replaced, and changed the oil pressure sensor/switch. Still on. Any ideas?

you will have to install a gauge so you can get the real oil pressure
