For any of you looking for trucks or parts, there are some interesting listings on Craigslist in San Diego and Orange County. (I have no affiliation and I haven't seen these vehicles). There is a 2003 DII with 108k miles in San Diego for $5000, supposedly no issues (I know, they all have issues, that is just what the ad says) and a couple of listings in Orange County, including a damaged 2000 DII for $800, motor, tranny and transfer case included. Great parts truck. From the photos, it looks like the damage was to the right rear side.
