Bars stop leak???
#11
We talked about this at some length in the other thread the OP started, but many people have had good results with KSeal and the Barrs tablets.
I wouldn't hesitate to use either. The Barrs Tablets are recommended as preventative maintenance against weeping head gasket leaks by GM, and KSeal has the best reputation I have seen of any of the liquid stop leak products. As minor as his leak is, I'm sure either will keep his truck on the road for quite some time.
What the original poster needs to do is google these products to see how many people have had problems with them.

I just added Kseal to my 2003 SE7. I ran with it for a day (about 50 Miles), drained it, and added fresh coolant. so far so good, car is running great with the temp gauge below 200.
To be honest, I took some precautions since I bypassed the heater core and thermostat. My radiator had a small leak so if I see any sign of clogging it will be replaced it.
My HG are scheduled to be done (by me) by February 2014 (or sooner).

my one and only experience with Barr's, like everybody; oh it a small leak.
So i pick up a can /jar of Barrs pour it in and it's over heating within 20-minutes.
Got home pulled the lower hose to drain the radiator, unbolt the radiator and go to pick it up, boy this is heavy.
I get it out and the top half of the radiator is still filled with coolant. so I tip it over and the top half of the radiator drains.
Never seen it before, never seen it since, but if it wasn't Barrs what else would have block a radiator solid in 20-minutes.
correction: twice cost me a heater core in my F150 too.

I have used Barrs in a 1991 Range Rover.
Worked great. I had a head gasket issue where I had steam
out the exhaust pipe at 11pm in Chicago.
Put in 2 cans of Barr's Leaks.
By 2am I am in Indiana state and I had no sign of steam out the back.
I drove to Rochester NY - still no steam.
Fixed the power brake pump in Rochester and drove to Boston.
All on 2 cans of Barrs Leaks.
One more proof:
Our Discovery I was eating antifreeze. Put in two bottles of Barr's leaks.
Was able to reduce the antifreeze going into the engine oil and
finally replaced the head gaskets.
And one more proof.
In 2004 I was in Boston as said above.
I replaced the water pump in the 1991 Range Rover in the parking lot
in Wakefield Mass at the Holiday Inn.
I botched the water pump gasket. Upon filling the system, the
coolant leaked at the water pump gasket.
I was not happy.
I just added the 2 cans of Barr's leaks.
It stopped the leak at my botched water pump gasket and that was it.
I drove that RR around Boston for two weeks.
Drove it back to Rochester NY and an RR guy bought it from me and
changed out the engine. That guy wanted it for the clean Seattle WA RR body with no rust. No rust is a prized possession in the East Coast.
Never clogged my heater core or radiator.
Any problem with Barrs in the radiator or heater core means these are already plugged and hardly working.
