Default Bearing noise

I have a bearing noise, and before getting into it, I wanted to see if anyone else has had this and figured it out, to save some time; My 2000 D2 has 113K, auto, 4.0, rebuilt/lubed drive shafts, all fluids-good. I hear the noise from the middle of the truck it seems, when decelerating at highway speed, in drive. If I shift into neutral at that time, the noise stops. It seems to be getting louder over a short time. I'm thinking a transfer case bearing, but not really sure how to determine. I'm going to connect a multi-point listening devise, but I don't know if that will be definitive enough, and I don't want to rebuild a case for nothing if it's really the transmission, or visa versa.. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
