Anyone using the Zerex G-05? I just rebuilt my cooling system (new radiator, hoses, expansion tank & genuine 180 thermostat) and used Zerex after flushing my engine and heater core with enough distilled water to drown a whale...

Just curious as to who else might be running it and any thoughts they have on it.

I know ford engines require G05, & I also know from all OAT coolants G05 has the least amount of chemicals (phosphorus , etc,) in its formula,
I still prefer green stuff for Rover V8, because proven by many that it works without damaging anything, (when changed on right intervals)

I like this stuff. Phosphated HOAT. My last go-round was a complete engine replacement so I didn't have to worry about flushing since the system was dry.

My system if dry right now. I've got both plugs out of the block and drained it and then sucked the rest out with the shop vac. I then cleaned the shop vac and put it on blower mode and used it to push the remaining out since the compressed air was too much pressure.

My dad had a few bottles of the Toyota red stuff when we replaced the cooling system years ago. I've been using it for probably 5 years. No issues with the coolant.

I was kind of leaning toward the Toyota red since I keep it on hand for my inlaws Camry SE and it's good for aluminum and easily avaliable but I didn't know how people liked it. I've replaced the entire cooling system so I'm starting from scratch on a completely dry system. I have seen a few using the Toyota red and like having a good coolant where I don't have to keep various types on the shelf

I use G-05, its pretty good stuff, its HOAT for what its worth. I've had in in for a year or so, after swapping a new thermostat, water pump, hoses, fan clutch and fan.

I have no complaints, temps run about 188 degrees going down the road

I also use it on an x308 Jaguar; works well there too. I contacted Valvoline about using it on a 1972 MGB, they claim it is good for that system too, so it seems pretty universal.

Pod,

Thanks for the info. I've been running 188 since my cooling overhaul on the hwy and couldn't be more pleased!
