I think Discorama beat me to it the other day but I think installing riv-nuts to the center console cover vs using rivets is one of the best mods I've done so far.
I used M4 screws and riv-nuts. I think the M4's are strong enough. I had to drill out the holes in the cover but the body's holes still had some wiggle room for the plate to align with each riv-nut.
I have had to remove the center plate before and used rivets before to replace it. Even though I hope to never have to dismantle my center console again, the ease of putting everything back together using riv-nuts vs the hassle of a rivet gun was well worth it.
I went riv-nuts and have had to be back in there twice since. Was very glad both times. I still have one more trip in there at some point when I finally put in a center diff lock shifter. Sheet metal screws would have also worked with less effort. Riv-nuts just felt more elegant.
