Default Blinker light mystery

After searching the boards high and low with no luck I need to ask a question.

I have a 2002 Disco 2 ----

The rear taillight that has the blinkers has two sides to it. The yellow that is the blinker, but what is the red? both of mine do not work. I thought maybe it was the brake lights, running lights, but they don't work. I am just curious. Thanks.

Fog lights. With your headlights on, push the rear fog light switch (top left side of instrument panel) and they should come on.

Yep, if they are mounted in your bumper, they are your tail fog lights. They are worth using too; they significantly increase your viability (others to see you) in rain and fog.

It's a euro thing, volvo has had them since the 70's! They do work good!

Think of them as highbeams for your taillights. They are quite bright and often confused as brake lights by someone riding on my tail when I choose to let them know where bumper is located.

Default Rear Fog Lights

All,

Thanks for everyones input. It is indeed REAR FOG LIGHTS. I would have never thought that is what they were. I always wondered about the fog light botton on the dash even though I don't have any fog lights. Thanks again for the information.
