My blower pushes so much air I have to scream at my passenger when it's in high. I assume all the face vents are open, you should get noticeable air flow coming out of them. I usually only ever use AUTO or speed 3, even when it's 90 degrees outside.

I suspect your blend doors aren't fully opening. Try cycling through from MIN to MAX with everything else off. You should hear a motor whirring under the dash, the other blend doors should also whir when you switch through the various vent locations.

Have you tried AUTO as a setting? Maybe things will change a bit

Today I was able to test it longer during my morning commute to work, and definitely it is not blowing properly.

If I have to guess, I would say that at MAX speed it was blowing a 1 or 2; at MIN it barely blows anything; it blows cool air though.

Before I started driving this morning, I sat there for a while checking emails and I did hear a few clicks, perhaps from the relays, dunno why since I wasn't playing with the controls, but I heard a few, then no more, and of course did not hear any while driving, drive was too loud to hear them.

During my drive, there were moments that the rev picked up a bit for few secs, then back to weak blow, also felt revving up a bit over rough patches or bumps, it did it a couple times till it just settled at weak blow.

All vents are fully opened and air flows out of all, face & feet level, and cycling thru them does not better the flow of air.

Rear Blower does blow a hard flow of air, you can feel it and hear it, so I can relate when you say that you have to speak loud to your passenger; my passengers could hear me talking softly under actual conditions.

I've learned that you should use AUTO as soon as you hop into your car to bring temp down faster, then back to regular to maintain it; but neither setting makes the blower rev up as it should.

Also, towards the end of my drive this morning it started to squeak again, so I guess a third clean up is in order.

I'm asking myself what are the components that need to work in order for it to rev up or down? would a faulty connector be causing it, although they all "look" fine? perhaps something inside the motor that when back in it's working position simply does not work due to wearing out?

It is odd that it revs up when connected directly to the batt, and while resting on the floor mat, as you can see from my videos, but as soon as it is back in place, it weakens, there must be some kryptonite hidden in there! ;-]#

I'll be checking the voltage later today as you suggested, and see what that tells us.

Thanks again for your feedback.

If it squeaks, you need a new blower motor. The bearings are toast, and the brushes are most likely worn

Yes, the squeaks I understand is that, reason why the maintenance gets done to try and breath a bit more life and lubricant into them; as per the worn brushes, I guess there's not much you can do there.

Probably when it's back sitting in place it becomes more apparent, maybe? would this rule out any other usual suspect ...although it does rev up, as you saw in the videos, that gets me thinking motor works... then again, I may be wrong.

Thing is, what to change at first trying to look for the solution, there lies the problem my friend.

Anyways, just checked voltage without disconnecting the blue connector from the blower, stuck the probe in the openings where the wires going into the connector towards the blower. The top wire always measured between 13.5v & 13.9v, is that the voltage coming into it? but the bottom wire did give me different readings while cycling thru the speeds:
  1. On 1 it read 9.6 max;
  2. On 2 it read 4.7 max;
  3. On 3 it read 2 max;
  4. On 4 it read 2 max;
  5. On 5 it read 0.16 max, although a last checked read 0.
During this check, blower acted as it did this morning, weak blow.

I'll wait for your feedback, thanks again.

Replace the motor. Once it's starts squeaking, it's beyond the point of repair and will need replacement. The lack of speed while in the cabin is because there is a lot more load on the motor trying to push air through relatively small vent ducts, when it's out in the open, there's very little load

I see, thanks.

Went ahead an ordered a used one last night, hopefully it'll be in much better condition than mine, so I'll report back during the weekend. Thanks for all the input. ;-]#

New blower motors are like $40 tops, I believe you can use the blower out of a Pontiac Grand AM/Prix as well, but I'm not 100% on that

I bought a new one from RockAuto for $40. Brand is Intermotor, made in Canada. Seems to push more air than the bosch, but is a tad noisier I think.

I saw a "Four Season" and a "VDO" at RockAuto, between $40 & $50, but preferred to go with the used option like ours, let's just hope it works fine, ended up paying $55, shipping included.

Heck, if not satisfied I'll return it or resale it, hopefully swapping blowers solves my issue, and I won't have to come to that. ;-]#

Hello Roverers!

Here my latest update on my issue, and hopefully last regarding this matter ...for now! ;-]#

Used -and dirty- Blower Motor arrived yesterday! ...I knew it was used, but man, wipe them clean before shipping them out.

Anyways, installed as soon as I got home last night and thing blows nice now, so yup, it was the motor, as TWIX suggested; now off to recharge it with gas, sit back, and enjoy while it lasts.

Thanks again guys!
