Default Blue Devil in engine oil?

I have a couple leaks from the seal around the oil sump and was wondering if it would be a good idea to put some Blue Devil in there. The few posts I found around here seemed to suggest it was a good idea, but I wanted to get some more current input from people before I dump it in the engine.

So what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea?

It works by swelling the seal it stays in contact with. And it works well. Would not advise use of their sister radiator stop leak. When you install the product you have to drive for several hours. Here's a pix of an o ring soaked in it for 48 hours.

Thanks for the input. I put some in the transfer case a couple months ago and it seemed to work pretty well, I just wanted to make sure before I did something dumb.

I wouldn't use it on the oil pan, better and easy to just drop the pan and reseal it after you clean the pick up tube and clean out the pan.

I did reseal it when I did the front cover gasket a few months back (not well enough I guess). The current leak is nothing major; I know it's normal for Rovers to leak a little. The leak just bothers my OCD and I had a bottle of Blue Devil laying around so I figured I'd ask.

You keep saying BLUE DEVIL.
Blue Devil Engine and Cooling Sealant 32 oz.

I am hoping that you are referring to the White Shepard stop leak not the HEAD GASKET quick fix. Right?

Correct. I use Blue Devil/White Shepherd names interchangeably. It is the oil stop leak, not the head gasket stuff.

I added some to my 01 about a 1.5 years ago and it cured the small drip mine had when I parked it overnight.
