Default bmw m21 transplant disco series II

Having head gasket issues

instead of wasting money on fixing the already plagued engine recently saw a disco online over seas that had a bmw m21 turbo diesel engine transplant. Ironically the engine came in a 1980s 524/e28 with the same tranny the disco has. Curious if by any chance the bolt patterns were the same on the tranny in both the cars and if there would need to be any other major mods to make this work. The bmw engine is all mechanical and the throtal linkage is simalr to the discos.

This could get interesting??

Default major mods

You will need major mods...If it was that simple ...everyone would have one....Even putting a land rover diesel engine in a NAS V8 is a huge under taking and a big wad of cash.....Big brother does not want you to get good gas milage...The technology has been around for decades....

Range Rover Classic BMW Diesel Conversion - Land Rover Forums : Land Rover and Range Rover Forum

if you could find an m52 out of a 90's 3 series you might be able to import the parts needed to mate the engine direct from Land Rover as they used that engine in some of the 90's defenders in South Africa... after which you will have less power then you do now.

as i said before. just do the headgaskets.
