Performance implications aside, that is a more handsome package.
Thanks Alex, it does looks good in terms of looks. If it came down to it, performance wise, may have more tunability ie different trumpet sizes, plenum spacers, port/polish. Performance gains could be similar if wanted.
The ability to mess with the trumpets and more easy porting is definitely a plus. If you went extreme enough you could probably even exceed the Bosch intake. You'd be reaching the limits of the heads at that point, too, but that's nothing some more porting can't fix.

Ecu rev limit is still low 5000s and the transmission shift points remain constant. If you shorten those trumpets much itll be undriveable
Hey fellow Landies, it’s been some time(much time) since I have posted anything new. The time includes a new shop and many responsibilities with a new shop. No excuses though, just busy. To get back on subject on this thread, due to the covid more time is avail, so new things were planned and executed. The pinned liner engine hybrid I had stored away along with the GEMS UIM/LIM have been installed and running. Not 100% but it’s 90% more than it was 7 months ago. All I have to sort out primarily is the plenum to airbox lid plumbing. IACV and TPS working without a hitch(which I thought was going to be the biggest setback). Below is a sneak peak of what’s happening. More will come. Just FYI, this swap was NOT straight forwards and unraveled lots of theories/modifications and executions.
Gotta admit, it looks killer. I am looking forward to hearing more about this.
Hey Alex_M, thank you. Took lots of time/effort/enginuity to figure things out, then test after wards as well. Ask away with question. More to come. Also, I disassembled the old engine that was swapped and there is a ring in the head and the head gasket firing ring is enlarged(liner issue). I am going to see if I can remove the piston and set the block in the sun and remove the liner by hand.... it’s possible. I still have to tidy the setup and make it look good.
Here is a little update with pictures for the few folks that follow this thread here. She is driving perfect, idles perfect, sounds great(no more ticks), no engine lamp on, temperature has been steady aft warming up. Lots of effort has been put into this thing.
Few things left to make 100%:
-TPS has to be adjusted and cover put on
-Coil pack oriented 180*(hits the body a little)
-Red vacuum plug swapped for a black one
-Fabricate a purge valve bracket
-I DEFINITLEY need to fab an intake duct(as you may notice in the pictures[no leaks though])
-more heat shielding
-E-tape the wires on passenger side
-Shave coolant pipes on passenger side and fab bleeder valve
-Cowl circle covers
-Quad oil coolers has me thinking as well....
