2003 D2

Sorted out an issue this weekend where stepping on the brake pedal would cause front and rear parking lights to come on.
Turning on the parking lights would cause all of the brake lights to come on.
The dash lights would come on too.
Also heard a very noticeable and new to me relay kinda of noise from the below the shifter.

Turned out to be one of the taillight bulbs. I replaced it and the issue was sorted. I do have aftermarket LED bulbs that are both running and brake lights, one of those had gone bad. The bulb was working as a brake light, but as a parking light the lower intensity light was not coming on but the brake light was.
I checked the towing harness and the wires are all cut off at the tailight.
No fuses blown.

Given D2s reputation for electrical issues and that a prior owner has oddly hacked up the center brake light housing and wiring I was worried this was something significant. Was about to sacrifice my muffler bearings and blinker fluids and dig into the Rave.

I did do some forum searches and found general troubleshooting threads but none with this sprecific issue.
