Default brake pads

my daughters 1995 discovery needs new front pads. I'm about to change them in my driveway. Before i crawl around in ice and snow and feel the 30 degree temps. to the bone, is there anything special I should watch for or do with this task that isn't standard with other autos ?

Default RE: brake pads

I did the pads on my wife's '03 Disco for the first time in the fall - didn't find it any more difficult than previous cars I've worked on (VW, BMW, Mazda, Audi).

It's very straight forward. First maintenance I ever did actually.

I went to change out my front pads before the Mojave Road trip, only to find one of the pistons had seized on the driver's side. The rubber boot around it had a tear in it and was full of rust and dirt. My guess is the PO tore it last time he changed the pads when pushing the pistons to fit over the new pads. In the end I got new (rebuilt) calipers, rotors, and pads up front.

Use lots of sound deadening spray and do a full 3 pint brake bleed when done to improve the pedal and braking.
