sound like they need to be re-bleed or you have a master problem, worry about getting the petal back before you worry about the quality of the pads

I need to bleed my brakes and I am putting it off (of course).
I can stand on mine and it will lock up the wheels.
but, I drive slow - to save gas.
Even driving slow I get 13.8 MPG round town.

Yeah the other person who drives my rover says "your brakes are horrendous".

 

Jfall just looking at my old threads. Bleeding the lines repeatedly didn't work. I found a vacuum leak at the the throttle body that I fixed today with a new little red ring fitting. Drove around the block, shut it off, no vacuum leak. Brakes still stink. I have a few other vehicles and my rover's brakes are by far the worst. Searching for other solutions.

I drive really slow, too. But when I go to the big city (Dallas) my brakes are a real liability.

 

As far as pads go, I cannot say enough about the top of the line EBC greenstuff pads. I just installed them and they are light years ahead of the old pads. Not sure what kind the old ones were, but they still have about 60% life.

I have 3 D2s that we drive and the difference was amazing. I am going to put them on the other 2 as soon as I get the funds. Around $220 for front and back.

 

As a last resort I would take your truck to a shop with a computer to bleed the brakes the Land Rover way. I think that there are few members on here in Dallas that might have a computer to help you out. All that would cost you is gas and maybe a beer or 12. Talk to Dusty or ls1morethanyou.

I just started running Akebono ceramic pads and so far they are great and they haven't even fully gone through bed-in yet.
