Default Buying a second Disco for parts

Right now I'm looking at replacing a lot of plastic parts for my discovery because I'm so picky on getting everything right... so I found out paying a few thousand bucks for a second Rover might actually save me some cash. Thing is I don't need an entire truck, so I was looking into recommendations on buying a second rover (maybe with a few issues to really lower the price) and pull off everything I want and part out the rest.

If anyone has experience i wouldn't mind the input. I really want to have a great looking truck that has all the little details perfect... I hate looking at missing screws or gashes in the interior

I found out that some boneyards have parts, but after driving to three different ones, looking for the dash plastic that surrounds the radio, I called Paul Grant and had a pristine one in my hands in a few days for a lot less than the gas I wasted. Dismantlers like Paul have the advantage of being able to cull things that are sub par, etc. I only paid $1750 for a running D1. The boneyards pay by the pound, so normally they wil pay under $1000 for a Rover, if you see one on craigs list with blown engine offer them low, they don't have a lot of options.

Now that extra vehicle in garage, driveway, side yard, behind the barn, etc. - SWMBO might not like it for long, neighbors might complain, gated communities have too many rules, etc. On the other hand, it does make it look like someone is home, so it is part of a security package.

I bought an 02 for parts and I paid $1000 for it. I lucked into it by taking some metal to the recyclyng center and one of the guys asked me if I wanted to buy some parts. Sitting behind some tractor trailers there she was. Offered him $1000 and called a tow truck.
I needed new tires and door latches, and It just so happened to have both. Long story short...after selling parts on forums and taking parts off and putting on mine I came out about $4000 above water....then the hoa started complaining and neighbors would ask when I was getting rid of it. I was going to take it to the crusher but at last minute someone bought it from me....I wish I still had it. So its completely worth buying a parts truck if the parts you are taking off is valued more than what you paid for the truck
