Default A/C compressor or clutch lifespan

Hey guys,

Having an issue with intermittent A/C. I suspect a failing relay or a/c compressor clutch or compressor.

The original is in there, and I am just wondering if they have failed for people and at how many miles.

If it's intermittent, sometimes it's just wear on the clutch surface. There's a spec for the gap between the clutch plate and pulley. If it gets too far apart, it will start giving you trouble.
To test it, you can turn the ac on and if the clutch doesn't engage, you can tap the front of the clutch and see if it engages.
If that works, you can remove the center nut on the clutch and re-shim it. Sometimes there are more than one shim in there and you can remove one to put it back within spec. If not, you may need to get some thinner ones.
