A/C-Heater control dead

A/C & Heat have worked fine on my '03 Disco until last week. Started it up one morning and noticed the control unit was dead (no display, no controls worked).
Checked 5A fuse under dash and saw it was popped. Installed a 7.5A and it immediately popped when I hit the ignition. A/C Fan fuse under hood is fine and A/C fan is new and working.
I'm thinking the motor that controls the A/C & heat flaps behind the dash may be the culprit but that's just a guess.
Any tips on troubleshooting or likely causes would be appreciated. It's going to be close to 90* and humid again today ;(

What 5A fuse are you talking about? I don't know of any 5A fuses in the box...?

May be a foolish question, but I assume you've tried the power button on the CC head?
Also consider that it's often another device on the circuit that may be related to popping the fuse.... You just noticed the climate control head first, because something was popping its fuse.
