Stock 18" Hurrucane's.

You will probably need a spare tire relocator so your tires dont rub aginst the bumper and make it difficult to close the rear cargo door. Lucky 8 llc sells them.

Present day
That looks great! How mch of a lift did you need to accommodate them?

I also have a 2" lift and have been considering 235/85/16, I have 245/75/16 now.
Are you experiencing and rubbing?

2" TerraFirma HD suspension lift. I did the lift well befote I got around to the tires so not sure how these tires would have done with stock height.

As for tires I suggest BFGoodrich mud terrains or KO2 all seasons. General Grabber AT are awesome tires no doubt but with a 2 ply sidewall vs BFgoodrich with 3 ply sidewall.... And price is similar. Furthermore General Grabber AT's are not available in the 235/85R16 size Im looking for. BF's are available in this size. The KO2's like the original KO's have a legendary reputation for being one if the toughest and most reliable and best performing tires. Many diehard overland enthusiests around the world back the BFgoodrich KO and KO2 tires. That is a good reason enough for me.

I will be fitting KO2's very soon myself. Good luck mates and thanks for the complements. FYI a lift like mine is reasonable in price. You can get a new lift kit complete with coils, shocks and hardware for the price of a new genuine brake servo booster.......

No rubbing now with the ARB bumper, no rubbing or trimming required when i had the factory bumper. Making sharp turns no problem. Even while offroading no rubbing. These tires are not so extreme that you need a massive lift or trim your bumper and wheel wells.

Discos are picky about 15" rims. VERY few will clear the brakes, from what I've read. Some BMW rims, I believe, are what the guys that run 15s use. I've not seen any others on D2s.

16 inch wheels are probably the most practical. Many tire choices weather you are going for a basic city touring tire, a grippy winter tire or a beefy all season or mud terrain. Tires compatible with 16 inch wheels also appear to be more affordable. But do what works for you.
