Default Can D1 Rear Wiper Arm Be Installed on D2?

Hi,

I'm planning to go to the local parts yard today to grab D1 wiper arms from their stock to swap out the front wipers on my D2 and am wondering if the D1 rear wiper arm can also be retrofitted? Will the hose be compatible? I currently have no rear wiper arm so I suppose anything would be an upgrade at this point

Thanks for any insight!

Yep, my 2004 has them swapped. Popular mod.

Great news, thanks for the reply. And the hose is compatible as well?

Pretty sure I also read on another forum that the standard front wiper blades are 18" but you can use up to 21" blades no problem.

D1 = 18inch & D2 = 21inch, so put the proper size on for whichever vehicle you have the D1 arms installed on.

Rear wiper arm works, however the D2 uses a plastic arm with the squirter built into it vs the D1 which had the squirter mounted on the body of the D1. So you’ll either have to ditch the squirter or modify it to the D1 rear arm.

Thanks for the info. Regarding the squirter, the hose for the original wiper arm is just hanging out the back of the door right now. Can anyone provide info on a known mod for connecting this to a D1 arm so that I can use the washer fluid function with the rear wiper?

I would get a D2 arm for the rear to keep the squirty functionality. It's seldom used but comes in handy when it's needed.

If I remember correctly I used 2-3 zip ties to hold the tube and sprayer in place on the D1 arm.
It’s been like that for over 3 years with no problems with its use.

Thanks guys!

Any recommendations on wiper blades? I've been reading up and it sounds like the Bosch Icons and Rain X Latitudes are among the most common options people suggest but there seems to still be a ton of opposing views saying both of these options are crap with contact / streaking issues. For what it's worth, I'm located in Calgary, AB, Canada and we're heavy into the winter season with lots of snow and ice already. I've got a road trip through the BC Rockies happening this weekend and want to do the swap before I hit the road.
