Can I still play with this ball???
To be specific are you saying you have the original shaft that you yourself have replaced one u-joint and the centering ball previously?
While its great to do your own work, If that is true then I'm thinking your 2" lift is not the problem.
It may however have added enough extra stress to reveal a previous weak point in your stock original shaft and double cardon.
When dealing with the the front drive shaft (or anything else really) on a Rover it's always best to fix it all at once and as best as possible... not piecemeal... You have to be proactive and thorough. That shaft has been sandwiched between two 600° cats for 16 years!
Just buy the whole new balanced aftermarket propshaft of your choice, instal, Rove on.

Thanks Dave. I did rebuild the front prop shaft myself last Aug. I replacedthe 3 u-joints and the centering ball in the double cardon. To get to the centering ball yesterday, I had to trash one u-joint to get the double cardon apart. I replaced the centering ball and one u-joint last night. I was able to clean up the nicks from the carrier as well. Hope this clarifies. I am back on the road without any issues, but will be shopping for front prop shafts in the near future.
