can remove key while still in drive
When I turn my 2001 Disco off I can remove the key even when I'm not in "park". I've had several "rolling" scares. Any ideas? I've heard I'll have to have the key "chassie" replaced for $800 - yikes!
Remember to put it in park!!! Just kidding.
How warn is your key, do you have 2 of them and do they both do the same thing?
Yes, you may have to change out the tumblers soon or at least blow them out with high air pressure to see if you can get some of the old metal shaving out of them.
Worst case you can go to , http://www.roverlandparts.com/index....S&Category=135
and buy a used switch for $250

Only have 1 key, and it doesn't look too worn. I'll try the air. I'm CERTAIN I'm not mechanical enough to replace the part myself.....but if I bought the part, I'm sure any seasoned mechanic could replace it. It's an hour trip to the Land Rover dealer, so I'm trying to find someone near me that works on them....without luck.
Don't have the dealer do the work, check around for a small shop that works on Engish cars, also check with some lock smiths, some of them can do it and they do have the experience behind them to replace lock sets.

Thanks for all the advice. Do you think this tumbler could also be behind a problem I'm having with not being able to turn the key once it's in? It doesn't happen all the time, but just enough to worry me. I have to keep trying for several minutes, then it just pops over. Sounds like a worn key......
