Can no one test our alternators?
Went to three parts stores, three separate machines, but ALL THREE reference an alt that has 4 wires to connect. Two red screw connectors, plus a red and white small connector that none of my three alternators I've used have.
Tried on all three machines, even used a new off the shelf alternator but all fail immediately. I'm pretty sure they aren't all bad, but the machines don't seem to have the right info on our alts.
Anyone gotten a good alternator test?

i just put my multi meter across the battery terminals and set the meter to read volts, should be around 14v if the alternator is working and 12v or lower if it is not working while the vehicle is running.
Sorry I will be more specific. I want to test it before it is installed in the car and I want to know how many amps it puts out
