A locksmith could make one from "feel" or you are supposed to be able to get a serial number code from the dealer that allows a locksmith to reference a database to cut a new one.

Or as you mentioned, go to the dealer and pay around $250.

For the time being, use a pump bladder thing in the window frame and a long metal stick to push the unlock button in the dash. Then remove the ignition and turn the switch at the back to start.

Even though I answered him on text, no. Central unlocking deactivates the alarm.

I've had one cut from code before. Call your nearest Land Rover service department from a locksmith and give them your VIN number. They can give the locksmith a code for the automated cutter. It cost me $5. I just don't have a keyfob anymore so have to manually lock and unlock. If your nearest dealership won't do it, call around. It was the one in Orlando, FL that gave it to me.

did the discovery 2 ever have a separate door key from the ignition? or was the ignition key the only key that did both doors and start the car?

Doubt it.

OM:
KEYS AND HANDSETS
You have been supplied with two remote
handsets with integral keys which operate all
locks.
To unlock the steering column
Insert the key FULLY and turn the starter switch
to position ‘I’.
