Can you mount backup sensors in a D2 bumper not originally equipped with them?

My son's D2 actually has the backup sensors already, it a bumper that accepts them is what he needs now.

OEM bumpers are expensive, aftermarket "industrial-grade" steel bumpers are much cheaper, but those would be even harder to drill out for the sensor "grid", especially as most of them are boxed steel, i.e., not open on the backside.

Actually "some" aftermarket steel bumpers cost more than retail cost of a new genuine rear bumper replacement.... your best bet is to find a parts truck with the backup sensors and make a reasonable offer for the bumper assembly.
