Cannibal V8 - Anyone with experience with them
Thanks Yoops, look forward to meeting and seeing your Trek.
Yep, Lemonnier is not bad at all. Have had a few days of bad wind and dust storms, makes flying (erecting) steel a bit challenging.
The galley makes up for it in good food. (KBR)
Cheers.

Happy day motor came in Monday and mostly installed this morning. Sure is Purdy...painted block is black and Ceramic coated manifolds look sweet with bead blasted valve covers and oilpan..got all new seals and gaskets new water pump and 180 degree therm...hope to have it completed this week after correct breakin and a few other minor things fixed.
Good to hear Yoops,
yes that motor is really pretty, I have made a challenge to my self to do my best to keep is looking that way.
Before I left, I have almost 3k on the motor, I was fortunate enough to drive her from O.K. City to ther Beach - getting most of the break in done in two days.
You are going to love that motor, sound and feel!

All installed and starting proper break in....this thing is sweet. The performance Cam wakes it up nice . Oil change after the first 30miles and she will be good to go. Synth after 5000miles . Got the new brakes going on Monday and p/u on Tues. For anyone tired of the typical Stock 4.6 motor that is a real POS (Sorry...it is a reality, it should have been a TDI
) this is the ticket. Now I can enjoy this Trek Truck like it was meant to be enjoyed. I am finally a happy Gas powered Disco owner

I talked with Steve from Cannibal V8 and I may have my D2 shipped to their shop when she gets shipped off island in the next few months. Really depends one what we find out when we take the engine apart this weekend.
I can not say enough positive things about this experience with Steve and Cannibal V8 - if you want to solve the issues these motors have once and for all this is a great option not cheap but a great option.
That being said, I heard about someone (in Texas, I think) who does TD5 swaps, which would be awfully appealing to me. I love diesels. I work on submarine diesels for the Navy, so I am kind of biased towards diesels!
Well I'm glad you had a good experience with them. I'm still looking around. Since there is really only one local Rover shop in Hawaii I am kind of limited in my options for the time being (they specialize in Rovers, Jags, and the occasional TVR... the rest specialize in German automakers, but could do a Rover job I suppose).

TD5 swap would be my preference for long term but my research got me a 9-11k swap after all the parts harness etc...
