To put things in prespective, what will the investment be after engine, shipping, local shop work? How many miles are on the chassis now? Will this be a daily driver or just weekend specialty vehicle? Not being judgemental, just curious.

well I figure 6k for the motor,
+oil pump, +water pump,+ hoses, +belt, +fluids, +wires, +plugs, then shipping, the labor to do everything from the motor to the new ARB bumper. its got to be close

1. The investment - way too #@$#@! $$$$..too late to fret about it! Lets just say I could buy a bunch of used D2s for what is in this thing. But this D2 has some more value attached to it than a STD D2. It is #5 of 15 Trek Editions
Build thread is on Expedition portal ... The Shop in Norcross Ga is doing the motor swap Motor is 6k and labor to install w/ extras approx 2k . Expensive and not planned for until the oil pressure dumped unexpectedly

2. Chassis only has 83k original miles

3. Weekend only specialty Toy ...I live in Atlanta area and work here with another daily driver . I will use this D2 as my mode of transportation for my other property in Western North Carolina and camping trips primarily.

Are those Trek Ed rims or aftermarket? Love the paint too...like the G4s.

 

Thanks Dan -4 of These are the original Trek ED rims. 2 were silver D2 rims (same rim/different finish) I had all of them refinished in Black and mounted to BFG KM2s. Paint is original but reworked with wetsanding, polishing and resealing. Then New Updated Trek Edition Graphics were added

I gotta ask, what kind of MPGs are you getting with all that goody-goodness??? I need something to keep me from maxing out my credit card with ARB and OME accessories!

 

Dan sadly I can't anwer this as honestly I have driven this thing less than 2-300 miles since I took ownership last nov/dec...but it was a total mess then. with almost every thing leaking or wore out. I only got about 50miles on it from receiving it in late april and the oil pressure pooped..my guess 10-12mpgs.
and to your maxing the ol' CC out point.... sadly it is a addiction.

 

Now that is putting it mildly ...... I have done projects like this or full restoration's now to about 4 other cars the past 17+ years or so...a couple of E28 M5's and a E28 Alpina Turbo and a E30 M3....to name a few. Prior to that I was addicted to Roadracing/building Fox bodied Mustangs in SCCA until the money ran out.
