Default Cant finish propeller shaft rebuild

I was in the process of completing the front propeller shaft rebuild when the very last snap ring will not go on due u-joint not seating in far enough.

Not really sure how it happened, but it looks like I might have to take it all apart. It is the first yoke nearest the input flange. Ecrything else went fine.

Any suggestions?

Either something wrong inside U joint, or some trash you have not seen, or Kattywhompus alignment of parts. Disassemble to be sure.

Thanks for the reply. A little more persistence and I got it to work. Everything is back in and ready for a test drive this morning.

Overall it was a pretty painless operation.

Great - and you greased them and the ones on the rear drive shaft and the slip/slide part of the shaft.

Yes I didn't spare any grease. The old U joints where in pretty good shape for the number of miles. The splined shaft was really dry. I cleaned it up and greased'er down good.

Now I have rebuilt both shafts. Thanks for your input!

Take a good look at the rubber coupler at the end of the rear shaft. Eventually will need to replace.

Thanks I did that one a few months ago.

Right after I bought it, I noticed a sound and found out that one of the bolts came loose and tore up both flanges and the rotoflex. The old propeller spline shaft had siezed up as well. I got a used shaft and rebuilt it. In the process I ended up with a used differential that I never used. It has 60,000 on it and I would like to sell it.

Thanks for the tips!
