Default Can't open my Cargo door from inside or out.

I just bought a 99 Discovery 2. I cannot open then cargo door from the outside or the inside. No amount of fiddling or combinations of unlocking, pulling up on the door lock as you try to open works. I popped the rear door cover off but can't see what I need to do. Any help would be nice!

Thanks,
jay

Sometimes dirt can get in there and lock things up. Pop off the cover, spray some WD40 on the latch mechanism while squeezing/working the door latch (on the outside). Hopefully this will fix the issue. Just remember to put hold a towel against the door so the WD40 doesn't spray all over. If that doesn't work let us know and we'll take it from there.

good luck and welcome to the forum!

Rust probably? If then, bend and insert WD40 straw inside the hole in the outside door handle. Let it sit for a while and try again. Open as if theres no tomorrow.

Just to add to the above, there is a child lock tab switch on the inside of the hatch that will prevent you from opening the back hatch from the inside if it is engaged (down). Just flip it up to enable the inside hatch handle to operate.

It's unlabeled on my D2, but up near the actual lock mechanism almost on the side edge.

Did it open when you were looking at it before you bought it?
