cdl/D2/blown ftprop shaft
So, I've been cruising around the archives, etc and I'm still not totally sure. My question: '00/D2, does or does not have a CDL? My life would be a lot better, if I could give a 1/4 turn to the 13mm bolt on my tc, pull the ft shaft and be happily on my way to my driveline shop...
Oh, & is that the right procedure...1/4 turn on the 13?
Thanks

It should. But if you aren't the original owner or aren't sure of the service history, the only way to know for sure would be to feel for it. The transfer case could have been replaced at some point.
Probably has the cdl. Best way to tell is to crawl under it and feel on top of the transfer case for the little turning part. It is right about where the front driveshaft comes out of the transfer case. I don't think the part that you turn is 13 mm. I think it is more like 8 but not possitive on that. Either way, pliers will work.
Thanks! I'm on my way down under shortly. In one of the posts/pix I saw there was a little "lever" over the ft yoke on the tc, is that the critter? I'll go & see/feel what I find...
Thanks again
PS after the head R&R & fathoming the cooling system and doing a couple mods, it's running it great. I'm still abit shell shocked...I really don't need a blown tc at the start of the season...

GOT IT!!! an 11mm wrench, 1/4 turn, click...it was just that easy...Unbelievable after some of the other engineering conundrums found between the bumpers of these rigs...Thanks for your help and I'm off to the driveline shop 2morow...
Tho, I'm not really sure the joints were the problem...just because those pesky li'l roller things fell all over the ground when I pulled the shaft...lol

Richard, sorry bout not gettin back sooner...but, YES! It drives fine. I'm thinkin I want to find a small solenoid to operate the thing. On mine there was no little lever...just an 11mm lug w/ about a 3/4" threaded stud coming out of it...I can't see it from underneath...it's most likely a post machined out of a square rod and turned down and threaded to make the lug...it felt square...no visual confirmation on that, just what it felt like. Mine's a '00, D2. Good luck!
First, all 00's have CDL cases and about 85% of the 01's also have it.
As for the solenoid, I bought an solenoid kit made down under, about 10 years ago and it works great. Unfortunately they are no longer made.

Too bad they stopped making it...add it to my list...I still haven't gotten 'round to fixing my OBD port and finalizing the wiring on the coolant temp gauge...and add an oil pressure guage...An Alfa Romero factory tech told me 40 yrs ago"I replace the oil pressure sending unit every time I rebuild an engine!..." And he was one tight guy, additionally, the idea on an idiot light for o/p wasn't even on the table...
all food for thought for an engine w/ a $4K rebuild...
Thanks for the good 411.
PS following the other CDL thread ongoing, I was LUCKY, it just worked perfect!
