How do I engage my CDL?
I'm pretty sure that my '01 has a CDL. I can feel a round plate with three bolts and a 3/4" threaded stud sticking up in the middle on the top of my TC. Should this be it? If so, I'd like to lock it so I can drive around without my front driveshaft whileI replace the u-joints (at my leasure). I don't really want to go at it with a pair of pliers, but I can't see what's up there.Whatshould I use toturn it, and should it turn pretty freely? Is there any reason that I shouldn't drive it around while locked up? Thanks.
That is it! It should turn pretty esay especially is you have the trans in neutral and lift one of the front wheels off the ground and turn it a little as you rotate it with a pair of pliers. When that wheel stops turning you know it is locked. I took it a step further on mine and bought the linkage from a Series I at a junk yard and bolted it on. Now I can engage it whenever I want. Best of luck.
Got it, thanks. How does the lever connect when it's installed?(out of curiousity, does the lever run up into the cab somehow or do you reach underneath). It feels like there are threads there and I don't want tobugger them up with pliers.

if you go to www.discoweb.org, click on the tech tab, and find the CDL link. YOu can get a solenoid kit from www.greatbasinrovers.com. just hit a button on the dash, and you are in...
I found another conversion kit that uses cable operated system from the 2004,instead of hard linkages. Apparently hard linkages can add to noise and vibration inside the cabin. It's a slick looking kit that even includes a new oem cdl t-case shifter ****. A bit spendy though: (scroll down almost half way) https://www.expeditionexchange.com/discovery/
