I have an 03 disco II, just took it in and had a donor 04 CDL and shifter installed. now it seems I move the shifter to the left and its not locked in low forward and back high, to the right is locked forward and back both seem to be locked in low. I pulled trans down to first gear and ran 5 MPH at 2k rpm's with the cdl shifter both forward and pulled back. when its locked a light comes on in the upper left of cluster with two gears and a line through them a crazy dinging also on the entire time its locked. and strangely enough the neither key fob will lock or unlock the truck. both have fairly new batteries also. does the key not come out while cdl is engaged?

 

The only thing I can make of this is: what does the light with 2 gears and a line mean. That is a transfer case neutral position light.

 

It can often take several feet of movement before the indicator light goes off on the dashboard.
The key has nothing to do with the CDL, as far I'm aware.

 

 

got it figured out.... they installed the cdl lever 90deg off clockwise.
also didn't change the plate that it attaches to so when you tried to move the lever to the right it was hitting the plate. took 2 hours to convince him it was wrong.. and now neither key fob works.. and it cost $1200 eff me!
