yah, its called electrolysis but LR does not believe in it that is why the keep using dissimilar metals without using anti-seize. it might increase the cost of 100k RR to $100001.00, I just came across my stock shifter and it turns out I had to do the same thing cut the bracket.

Yeah it's crazy. I read a lot of stuff about using Alum to dissolve the steel. People use that for things like steel bolts stuck in aluminum heads. iN that case though they're trying to preserve the aluminum and replace the steel, but in my case I needed the steel.

Last night I finally got it out. I didn't have to do any more cutting. I had it soaking in PB blaster overnight after doing the initial cutting. It must have soaked into the cracks enough to dissolve some of the bond. Even then I had to pound it out with a punch and hammer.

I noticed while I was fishing around on top of the transmission and transfer case that my breather tubes are pretty seriously cracked (for both the t-case and transmission). Does anyone know where I can source some good lengths of tube to replace those? It sounds like it's 4mm inside diameter and 6mm outside diameter.

I ended up finding some 5/32in vacuum tubing at O'Reily's for $0.49 a foot that fit.
