The '03 didn't come with the nipple on the front output assembly. You need either an earlier output assembly with the nipple or an earlier (or '04) LT230.

Still haven't been able to identify mine. It's 2001 so maybe it has a locking transfer case maybe it doesn't (it came with a D1 arm in a box). I've read all these forums and it all makes sense until I'm laying under the truck… Then it just looks like a transfer case.
Where is this fabled 41 or 42 D serial number located? I can't see anything that looks like a serial number on mine… And what of this VIN number trick? She's SALTY, but where do I find manufacture date?
I would love to know once and for all.

I have read that if the sticker on the drivers door jamb says your production date is 6/2001 or an earlier month you have the nipple.

If you reach up just back from the front driveshaft where it meats with the T-case and feel on the top you should be able to find it, or the absence of it.

Here is a photo of a 2000 T case with the mystic "nipple"

In the second pic in post #63, you can see in the lower right a switch with a two connector blades poking out. It's hard to see. You have to buy that switch and wire it in the original wiring. It's pretty easy to do, the wires you want to tap into are in the central console near the shifter.

Woo hoo… 01/01!
Still regret that a mechanic had the whole center console out but didn't tell me until he had put it back together (poorly).
Well that's a project for some ambitious day.

And thank you for those pictures Abran. Above and beyond!

My D2 V8 is officially a 2003 so should not have the nipple, but it does Either it's an earlier transfer case that has been fitted or the car is actually a 2002 model - either way I win.

Now one question: viewing it from the top, is the locker engaged by turning it clockwise or anti-clockwise?

My statement was directed at owners of DII's in the North American region. All bets are off for the rest of the world.

Are these the parts which are needed?

Differential Lock Switch On Transfer Case (PRC2911 Same Fit As Part # PRC2911-LUCAS ) - Land Rover switches/control unit/actuators from Atlantic British

Differential Lock Switch Harness (Genuine Part # YMQ105170 ) - Land Rover switches/control unit/actuators from Atlantic British

I didn't see the second part of your post when I replied earlier.

Sitting in the driver's seat the CDL is engaged when the nipple is turned clockwise. Counter clockwise will disengage the CDL.

Thanks.

It's my understanding that D2s sold here in the Middle East had the same CDL setup as the USA, so my 2003 should be "nipple-less" but quite often cars here get registered late (surplus stock from other markets ends up being offloaded here) and I reckon that my vehicle is actually a 2002 model
