cdl question
I have a 2000 disco 2 that has the nipple that engages the cdl. My question is that if I wanted to test it would I need to have the tranny in nuetral? What about the high, low selector on the differential? I know that I need a 10mm wrench but I couldn't find any of these answers by searching through the forum. Please help I want to make sure that everything works before I buy the D1 linkage. I also believe that this will be the first time ever that it has been turned so is there anything else that I should do prior?
turn it in the direction of the red arrow and it will stop around the second green line. it only moves about 40-45 degrees.
also, once engaged, it will take moving forward and/or reverse a couple feet to engage AND disengage the CDL. your diff lock light should come on too...

The photo by jycsalas is correct. However, the lever (with the small hole in the end) and nut will not be on your 2000, just the threaded shaft out of the case. The base of the shaft has two flat sides which allows you to turn it with a 10mm wrench(spanner) in the direction shown. Note: in case you are unaware, the left side of the photo is toward the front of the vehicle.

Pretty sure on my disco. In that picture it is the locked position and if I turn it from there it is unlocked.

Hey Jupiter Rover. I still haven't gotten to use my CDL yet! I am currently changing the valve cover gasket, valley pan gasket, thermostat, timing belt, and still waiting for The DI t-case linkage to arrive.... maybe this weekend I'll be done with most of it!
I am also working on setting up an oil pressure gauge setup for us 2003 Discovery owners who want to keep an eye out on their oil pressure. I don't know of anyone who's done it yet, but isn't that hard. My father in Tampa is sending me the hardware. Check out the pic.
As you can see, the hose will go in the oil pressure switch port using an adapter and then it goes down to a "T" fitting which will have the oil pressure sending unit and the stock oil pressure switch. The final configuration setup is unknown.
oil psi at idle should be minimum 10
oil psi at 2000rpm warm should be 50
oil psi between 6 and 3.5 will turn on the oil pressure light on the dash.
This should work on other DII's and DI's as long as the threading on the oil pressure switch is the same as on the adapter =)
I'll have a separate post on this when it's installed and working.
