Default CDL Question

The previous owner had a transfer case from an 04 installed that has a CDL but didn't install the linkage. So I have the feature but no way to use it. Do I just need to buy the shifter from an 04 for this to work or is there more I need? Will this item from Ebay work?

I appreciate your help.

What year is your D2?

You could grab an 03-04 SLABS Unit to make it 100% identical fo an 04 (fully supports CDL & it will have the latest firmware which helps with ABS/HDC/TC). Then slap in the 04 CDL linkage and call it a day.

Now if you have an earlier 99-02 D2 the interlock solenoid is actually on the TC vs 03-04 where it is mounted onto the actual 4Hi/N/4Lo linkage. You can stick with your original setup on the TC, but you will have to remove the interlock solenoid from the 04 setup. It’s not hard to remove. I personally remove the 99-02 TC interlock and go with the 03-04 unit as it’s MUCH easier to gain access to if it fails. TC mounted unit is a complete PITA to get to.

FYI in the future if you want more precise advice/help, filling out your signature with your vehicle info/setup makes it much easier for everyone to help.

All that Best4x4 wrote is correct, but to answer your direct question the shifter in the eBay listing you included is from a DI. It will work with your truck with some minor modifications. Installation is detailed in several threads in this and other Rover forums.

A t-case shifter from an '04 is a better choice, but they are more expensive on eBay and less commonly found. The ideal scenario is that you find a '04 shifter at a local boneyard, where they sell for much, much less. I bought the one in my truck that way for $75 several years ago, and in the last year I bought two more for ~$20 each.

Yeah the link wasn’t working for me sorry (wifi out on the job site). I prefer the 04 setup to the 94-99 D1 setup & as mentioned above it’s a more straightforward swap.

Last one off an 04 at LKQ was 30.00 complete with the plate, ****, linkage, and shifter boot. I also grabbed an 04 SLABS Unit for 15.00 (they put it down as a Cruise Control ECU).

I have an 03. The TC the PO put in was from an 04. He said I could get the linkage from an 04 and it would work. Thanks for the info y’all.
