CDL stuck in 4H
It will not drive in N... again 4H is how you drive it on the road. You mean 4L? Or you mean you got the diff lock on? Are you aware of how these systems work?
Like I said, crawl under the car and soak the linkage in WD40.
Hope you figure out that the CDL linkage and the 4H 4L linkage are literally separate. Please don't break your car.

Ok I know this will sound condescending but there appears to be some confusion.
- Discovery's are full time 4 wheel drive there is no 2 wheel drive option
- The CDL lever does 2 things Goes form Hi to Low range - HI range being the normal driving position
- Depending on the year of your Discovery it can also lock the center differential you have an 01 so it may or may not
- For normal driving the CDL level is all the way to the rear and all the way to the right
4WD Selector **** Forward/Back Operation is as follows:
4Hi
N
4Lo
94-04 CDL Function if so equipped Operation side to side is as follows:
<- Left Engaged | Right Disengaged ->
”If” up/movement isn’t happening allowing you to shift the TC between 4Hi, N, and 4Lo isn’t operating then your interlock solenoid is most likely INOP. On 03-04 models it’s located on the 4WD selector assembly. On 94-02 it’s mounted directly to the TC.
Only other thing would be a binding shift cable.

seems counter intuitive compared to the diagram, but it works.
One big takeaway from this is that I never was sure how exactly I got the CDL engaged. It was easy disengaging once I had the good info.
With the type of CDL I have, sliding left to engage and right to disengage, is there even a high or low gear range selectable? The labels are ****

This transfer case design has been around from 1983 to 2015...
