CEL = better MPG

IIRC, when an O2 sensor fault is detected, the system runs rich.

Either excessive lean or rich and the end result is an extra, unneeded expense.
That would be awesome if you're right Spike. I don't really want to lay out $500 for the 4 O2 sensors. Since I only drove the one Rover that I ended up buying I really had nothing to compare it to so I didn't even realize how rough it was idling until I started it up with the new plugs and wires.
Catalytic converters.... O2 sensors.... EVAP system..... (sigh)..... maybe I'll go back to driving my old 72 Montego. Nothing like using a matchbook to adjust the points!!!
In the meantime, I'm gonna wipe the code and see if it comes back. Maybe it wasn't used to being out on the open road...

the front 02's are the ones i would replace with any 02 fault with high milage 100k plus. the rear 02's are simply looking for a medium (about .45v) the front are making the call for the PCM about rich or lean and will wear out faster then the rear. ive never replaced bank 2 02's that were not working properly. might save you some bucks....
Thanks for the info. I reset it and I'll be driving about 60 miles tomorrow so I'll see if it comes back on. If so then time for a new one. I'm sure after 10 years and 119kmi that something will wear out.
